How to choose a blank t-shirt fabric

Most blank tees fall into five fabric families. Picking the right one matters more than the brand: it decides the feel, the drape, how it washes, and how it takes a print.
Our picks

100% cotton (open-end)
Durable, economical and slightly coarser. The classic event and team tee. Example: Gildan 5000 (5.3 oz/yd²).
100% ring-spun / combed cotton
Softer and smoother because the yarn is spun tighter. A more retail feel. Examples: Gildan 64000 Softstyle (4.5 oz/yd²), Next Level 3600 (4.3), BELLA + CANVAS 3001 (4.2).
CVC and cotton/poly blends
Mostly cotton with some polyester — softer, less shrinkage, fewer wrinkles. Examples: Next Level 6210 (60/40), BELLA + CANVAS 3001CVC (52/48), Gildan 8000 DryBlend (50/50).
Triblend
Polyester, cotton and rayon for a very soft, drapey, vintage-heather look. Example: BELLA + CANVAS 3413 (50/25/25, 3.8 oz/yd²).
100% polyester performance
Moisture-wicking and quick-drying for sports and outdoor work; also the fabric used for sublimation. Example: Gildan 42000 Performance (5 oz/yd²).

FAQ
What is the difference between cotton and ring-spun cotton?
Ring-spun cotton is twisted and thinned into a finer, stronger yarn, so the fabric is softer and smoother than standard open-end cotton.
What does CVC mean?
Chief Value Cotton — a blend that is mostly cotton with some polyester (for example 60/40 or 52/48), for a softer feel and less shrinkage.
